It's Raining Men looks at desire after a seemingly successful life has settled into routine. Caroline Vignal's comedy follows Iris, a dentist whose comfortable marriage no longer provides the passion she wants. Her search opens questions about identity as much as romance.

The premise could easily become a conventional liberation story. Vignal instead combines humour with observant reflections on longing, self-perception and long-term relationships. Iris's decisions matter because the film considers the person making them rather than only collecting encounters.

Laure Calamy is the emotional backbone. The movement from hesitation towards greater confidence feels nuanced and lively, giving Iris's change a convincing human presence. Vincent Elbaz provides the other side of a marriage whose comfort has not prevented distance.

The direction approaches female desires and anxieties with sensitivity. Martin Roux's restrained camera supports the inner and outer changes without becoming voyeuristic. Music, costumes and settings help express the different stages of Iris's experience.

Humour does not remove the seriousness of the concerns. The film understands that fulfilment and self-definition can become difficult inside apparently stable relationships. Its light touch makes those questions accessible while leaving room for reflection.

It's Raining Men is a charming, thoughtful comedy with warmth and wit. Calamy's performance gives its treatment of desire substance, and Vignal avoids reducing Iris to a simple lesson about freedom. The result entertains while inviting a closer look at what a comfortable life may still be missing.
