Perfectly Missed follows Maria and Ralf through parallel lives in the same town. Their similarities suggest a connection, yet everyday routines and existing relationships keep them narrowly apart. The romantic comedy finds interest in the opportunities people fail to recognise.
Anke Engelke brings warmth and nuance to Maria. Her uncertainty and hectic energy do not reduce her to a stereotype. Bastian Pastewka adds melancholy through Ralf's attachment to the past and his understated humour.
The direction makes the separation between their worlds visible. The town provides a charming setting that can also feel confining, while close views keep attention on the performers. The images support the premise without becoming intrusive.
The balance of comedy and drama is less consistent in the writing. Development sometimes stalls, and forced dialogue interrupts the natural ease of the leads. The emotional depth remains weaker than the performances promise.
Editing and music are restrained, contributing to a gentle, melancholy mood. The rhythm is not always ideal, however, and the story advances with too much caution to provide many surprises.
The series is pleasant and worth watching for its central cast. Viewers looking for something light with a reflective side should enjoy the charm, provided they do not expect a bold or unpredictable romance. Engelke and Pastewka carry a production that works better in its moments than in its overall progression.
