Strong performances and warm images give the family drama depth, despite some predictable and slower passages.

Juliette in Spring follows an illustrator returning to her family in the hope of finding rest. Instead, different personal crises meet her own uncertainty. Blandine Lenoir adapts the graphic novel through an affectionate but thoughtful interest in complicated family relationships.

Izïa Higelin gives Juliette vulnerability and internal strength. Her emotional range makes the character convincing, particularly in the tensions between personal depression and family obligations. The performance provides the story with a substantial centre.

Sophie Guillemin brings similar authenticity to Marylou, while Jean-Pierre Darroussin and Noémie Lvovsky create lively parental contrasts. The ensemble allows the family to feel complex rather than simply chaotic for comic purposes.

The screenplay combines humour with deeper concerns about expectations and gender roles. Gradual revelations of the past give the relationships additional dimensions, helping the viewer discover the characters' conflicts rather than receiving them all at once.

Warm provincial images provide visual lightness, and the drawing sequences connect Juliette's inner world to the story's graphic-novel origins. The music reinforces the mixture of melancholy and comedy without overwhelming it.

Some stretches are slow and certain developments predictable, but the family detail and performances make the film worthwhile. Juliette in Spring offers a sensitive consideration of depression, connection and self-discovery. Viewers drawn to French cinema and thoughtful family stories should find an appealing, emotionally involving experience.
