Tatort: Es grünt so grün, wenn Frankfurts Berge blüh’n marks the farewell of Frankfurt investigators Janneke and Brix, played by Margarita Broich and Wolfram Koch. Till Endemann directs this 2024 instalment from a screenplay by Michael Proehl and Dirk Morgenstern.
Tristan Grünfels becomes entangled
Matthias Brandt plays Tristan Grünfels, a psychologist and victim counsellor caught in a spiral of personal and professional disasters. After unintentionally killing an enforcement officer, he becomes entangled in lies and deception. An ironic twist brings him into contact with the victim’s relatives as their counsellor, drawing him into the investigation.
An oppressive atmosphere
The Frankfurt locations create a dark, oppressive atmosphere, effectively captured by Philipp Sichler’s cinematography. The music intensifies the tension and complements the film’s unsettling mood.
Matthias Brandt and the ensemble
The episode stands out through its complex characters and its examination of human failings. Brandt gives a nuanced performance, making Grünfels’ internal divisions and moral conflicts believable. The rest of the cast, including the established investigators, consistently supports the credibility of the story.
A farewell with emotional depth
Broich and Koch’s final appearances add both nostalgia and a sense of change. Their strong chemistry gives the farewell authentic emotional depth as they work through this last chapter together.
Verdict
This is an engaging crime story that also reflects on guilt, responsibility and the search for redemption. Predictable turns and an occasionally overloaded plot hold it back in places, but it remains a worthy finale for the Frankfurt team and leaves a lasting impression.
