Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano give this property-sale mystery emotional weight, even when comedy and drama pull in different directions.

Created by Liz Feldman, No Good Deed follows Lydia and Paul Morgan as they try to sell their lovingly restored, Spanish-style Los Angeles home. The sale forces the couple to confront painful family secrets while keeping them hidden from inquisitive buyers. Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano lead an impressive ensemble in this eight-part dark comedy.

With their children gone, Lydia and Paul hope for a fresh start. Their house attracts prospective buyers with problems of their own, including Linda Cardellini's status-conscious Margo and Luke Wilson's former soap actor JD. Each arrival adds another secret or conflict to an already complicated situation.

Kudrow is particularly strong as Lydia, combining humor with deep sadness. Romano's restrained performance fits Paul, and their chemistry gives the relationship authenticity and emotional weight. Cardellini adds another layer of intrigue as the manipulative Margo.

The Los Angeles property setting and carefully designed interiors make the house more than a backdrop. Its appealing surfaces suggest the things the Morgans would prefer to keep concealed. The camera reinforces the tension and the darker side of the premise.

The balance of tones is less assured. Black humor and serious family drama do not always connect smoothly, producing abrupt shifts in mood. Some secondary stories are less convincing than the central one and distract from it rather than enriching it.

No Good Deed has a compelling premise and a cast capable of giving its secrets genuine emotional consequences. Its inconsistent tone and weaker subplots keep it from fully realizing that promise. Even so, viewers who enjoy dark comedy and family drama have good reasons to visit this particular open house.
