Lie With Me is a romantic drama exploring the emotional depths of human relationships. Olivier Peyon adapts Philippe Besson’s novel into the story of successful novelist Stéphane Belcourt, played by Guillaume de Tonquédec. Returning to his hometown, he meets Lucas, played by Victor Belmondo, the son of his first love. Their encounter releases vivid memories and buried feelings.

Love and self-acceptance

Love, identity and personal and social acceptance run through the story. Sensitive characterisation, careful direction and emotional depth make the film affecting. Peyon captures intimacy and vulnerability while maintaining a narrative shape that keeps us involved.

The performances

Guillaume de Tonquédec and Victor Belmondo deserve particular praise. Their performances establish a sense of familiarity that draws viewers in, and their chemistry makes the complicated relationship between the characters feel natural.

Verdict

Lie With Me impresses through its storytelling and visual beauty, but also through the questions it raises about love, truth and self-acceptance. It may not be a masterpiece, yet its delicate handling of complex people and emotions makes it well worth seeing.
