Adam Bessa's intense performance anchors a restrained thriller shaped by memory and exile.

Ghost Trail is an intense thriller about the aftermath of war, with trauma shaping every step of its central pursuit. Jonathan Millet keeps the wider history close to one person's experience.

Hamid, a Syrian survivor of imprisonment and torture, lives in Strasbourg and works with an exile network tracking suspected war criminals. He believes a student may be his former tormentor. Having never seen the man during his captivity, he relies on memories of voice and smell. Justice, revenge and obsession become difficult to separate.

Adam Bessa gives Hamid moving intensity and constant inner tension. His search for meaning feels inseparable from the memories that pursue him. Millet creates an atmosphere of grief without explaining every piece of the character's history.

Supporting figures, including former doctor Yara, widen the portrait of exile. Sparse dialogue leaves space for feelings that cannot easily be spoken.

A reduced palette and dense nighttime scenes mirror Hamid's isolation. The camerawork catches distance and estrangement, while the subtle music supports the emotion without taking over.

For me, the film is compelling because its suspense grows from a wounded person's uncertain recognition, not simply from chasing a target. It raises difficult questions about revenge, accountability and the possibility of ordinary life after cruelty. A restrained, thoughtful thriller that continues to resonate after it ends.
