Don’t Move turns a survival premise into a simple but emotional thriller. Directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto, it follows Iris, played by Kelsey Asbille, as she is hunted by Richard, played by Finn Wittrock. The film begins directly and builds on the threat Richard poses to her and others. Sam Raimi and the producing team support a dark setting and an urgent atmosphere that sometimes recalls classic survival horror.
Iris is a grieving mother who is already close to the limits of her endurance after a devastating loss. Richard abducts her and injects her with a substance that temporarily paralyzes her. This central mechanism forces her into desperate situations, but its use feels inconsistent. Although the atmosphere is threatening, the rules and effects of the paralysis remain vague. That affects the tension: she appears completely immobile at one point, then regains enough movement to survive a fierce struggle at another.

The strongest sequence takes place at Bill’s house, where Iris seeks shelter. Bill, played by Moray Treadwell, tries to help and sees through Richard’s deception. A confrontation escalates into an intense sequence of violence, fire, and survival instinct. The emotions feel tangible, giving the thriller the momentum it needs. Afterward, the tension settles at a moderate level as the film returns to familiar devices without developing them further.
Atmosphere and limitations
Zach Kuperstein’s dark, restrained cinematography suits the isolated, oppressive setting. Music and sound design contribute to the suspense, though the score is sometimes so understated that the story must sustain the tension by itself.
Don’t Move offers solid entertainment for thriller viewers willing to enter its simple, intense scenario. The characters, particularly Iris’s emotional condition, are explored only superficially. Its promising but underdeveloped plot and persistent atmosphere make it worth a look, though it is certainly not a standout thriller.
