Malou Khebizi gives Agathe Riedinger's debut a fragile, determined center in its examination of reality-TV ambition.

Wild Diamond follows a young woman who sees fame as the route out of an unsatisfying life. Agathe Riedinger's debut approaches that ambition through its emotional cost rather than the spectacle of the television world she hopes to enter.

Nineteen-year-old Liane lives with her mother and younger sister near the Côte d'Azur. Her appearance and the chance of reality-TV recognition become central to her hopes. An application to Miracle Island offers the possibility of escaping her circumstances.

Malou Khebizi makes Liane both fragile and determined. The performance captures the tension between personal ambition and expectations absorbed from the surrounding culture. Noé Bach's camera stays close to her daily experience, emphasizing the gap between her life and her dreams.

The film examines self-worth, beauty and the search for approval without needing to show the reality show directly. Watching Liane react to that imagined future brings the pressure closer. Her willingness to take risks reveals how far the desire for recognition can reach.

For me, this is a striking debut with a compelling central performance. It asks what success means and what a person may sacrifice to pursue it. The intimate approach gives its questions about media and self-image an emotional force that lasts beyond the film.
