Henry Danger: The Movie brings Kid Danger back for an adventure across alternative realities. Henry's new life and an enthusiastic fan's reality-altering device create a busy story with plenty of action, jokes and familiar faces for followers of the original series.
Jace Norman returns with the character's familiar charm while allowing Henry to seem more mature. Sean Ryan Fox supplies useful comedy as Jasper. Their relationship gives the journey a connection to the series beyond a list of references.
Glee Dango adds fresh energy as Missy. Her enthusiasm and uncertainty make the superfan more interesting than a convenient means of transporting the hero between worlds. Her chemistry with Norman is an important part of the film's appeal.
Joe Menendez guides the changes of reality smoothly, and the effects give the different settings distinct visual qualities. The alternate versions of familiar people provide some entertaining variations.
The plot is overcrowded, however. So many ideas have to fit that certain scenes feel rushed and characters receive insufficient attention. Missy's background could have been developed more fully. Some jokes are also flatter and more predictable than the better humour in the series.
It is an entertaining continuation for established fans, mixing action, warmth and nostalgia. A more focused story would have strengthened it. Newcomers can enjoy the movement, but some of the pleasure depends on recognising the people and history being revisited.
