Elli and Her Monster Team follows a young ghost searching for a new home and her missing uncle. The adaptation of Klaus Baumgart's book takes her to a group of unusual companions, turning belonging and courage into an animated family adventure.
The characters are lovingly designed and have distinct personalities. Elli's curiosity and determination give her journey a clear emotional base, while the monsters provide different comic attitudes rather than behaving as interchangeable helpers.
The German voices add energy and charm. Dalia Schmidt-Foß makes Elli appealing, and the supporting performers contribute humour and affectionate contrasts. The exchanges help the characters develop beyond their initial visual impressions.
The direction balances suspense, jokes and heart effectively. Clever dialogue and considered character development give the story enough substance to interest adults as well as children. Its warmth does not remove the adventure's sense of danger.
Colourful animation creates imaginative, detailed settings. The retro-futuristic city and old ghost-train environment make the world distinctive, with lively movement supporting the visual appeal. The images capture the story's magic rather than only illustrating its events.
Elli and Her Monster Team is an entertaining, warm family film. Its combination of amusing and tense passages works well, while the characters give the search for home emotional meaning. Viewers seeking an affectionate animated adventure should find a worthwhile choice with strong visual imagination.
