Beautiful Wedding tries to extend the appeal of Beautiful Disaster through a chaotic honeymoon. Roger Kumble's sequel is more noticeable for its weaknesses than for a convincing reason to continue the story.
Abby and Travis wake after a wild night in Las Vegas to discover they are married. A trip to Mexico with friends follows. The film aims to combine romance with comedy, but the exaggerated disorder often becomes confusing rather than entertaining.
Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner have some chemistry. An inconsistent screenplay and weak character development prevent that connection from carrying much weight. Supporting performers, including Austin North, receive little opportunity to become effective comic counterparts.
The direction seems uncertain whether to treat the story as a serious continuation or a parody of itself. The competing approaches rarely fit together. Plot developments feel constructed, and many jokes fail to land.
For me, the film lacks the substance and emotional impact needed to make its romance engaging. Fans of the source novels or the earlier film may enjoy a few moments, provided they are willing to overlook considerable weaknesses. Beautiful Wedding offers more activity without building a stronger relationship or a better comedy around it.
