Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry follows a woman whose independent life is challenged by an unexpected relationship. Elene Naveriani's romantic drama places Etero in a Georgian village where other people's expectations make personal freedom difficult to protect.

Eka Chavleishvili is the film's centre. Her performance conveys Etero's strength alongside the uncertainty created by love, making the conflict between attachment and independence emotionally convincing. Small changes in expression carry considerable weight.

Naveriani adapts Tamta Melashvili's novel with sensitivity to voices that convention often excludes. The film looks at ageing, desire and the pressures placed on women without reducing Etero to an argument. Her particular experience remains important.

Agnesh Pakozdi's restrained images create intimacy without becoming voyeuristic. The attention to the character's physical presence challenges familiar ways of representing older women, encouraging the viewer to reconsider assumptions about whose experiences deserve space.

Personal and political concerns remain closely connected. Etero's effort to define happiness for herself gives the broader criticism emotional substance. The direction trusts the character rather than relying on loud declarations about freedom.

Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry is a moving, thoughtful and unhurried film. Its intimate approach will not suit every taste, but Chavleishvili's remarkable performance makes the central struggle involving. Naveriani offers a perspective on autonomy that lingers beyond the immediate story.
