Two different routes into the competition
The 67th Thessaloniki International Film Festival runs from November 5 to 15. Variety reports that the Meet the Neighbors+ and Film Forward competition selections have been announced.
Both sections focus on first or second features. Meet the Neighbors+ draws from Greece’s wider neighbourhood, while Film Forward selects work with an innovative approach to cinema.
Some of the films selected
Meet the Neighbors+ includes Elena’s Shift, directed by Stefanos Tsivopoulos, and Hold Onto Me, directed by Myrsini Aristidou. The festival lists them among this year’s Greek and Cypriot contributions.
Film Forward includes Particles of Dust by Argyris Germanidis and Under the Judas Tree by Christos Houliaras. These are selected entries from the programmes, rather than the complete lineups.
The juries and prizes
According to Variety, Cristina Cassano, Sofia Exarchou and Anne Østerud form the Meet the Neighbors+ jury. Its prizes include the €10,000 Golden Alexander – Michel Dimopoulos Award and the €5,000 Silver Alexander for best direction.
Film Forward has ten competing films. Its jury comprises D’A – Barcelona Film Festival director Carlos Rodríguez Ríos, researcher and dramaturg Ana Vujanović, and filmmaker Yorgos Zois.
