Oriol Paulo’s Proxies Sets December 11 Netflix Premiere

The Spanish thriller stars Eduard Fernández, Mario Casas and Blanca Suárez in a story that begins with a troubling police confession.

Oriol Paulo’s thriller Proxies will premiere worldwide on Netflix on December 11. Netflix has announced the date and released a teaser poster for the Spanish film, whose cast includes Eduard Fernández, Mario Casas, Blanca Suárez, Nicolás Francella and Alexandra Jiménez.

The story begins on Christmas Eve morning when a man enters a police station and confesses to killing two or three people. Why he chooses to surrender at that moment becomes the central question. His account then becomes linked to another case that appeared to be closed.

Paulo directs and shares the screenplay credit with Guillem Clua. His earlier work includes The Invisible Guest and the Netflix series The Innocent. Proxies comes from Juanita Films, the production company Paulo founded with Libertad Ribera. The film was shot at several locations in Catalonia.

Paulo and Miguel Ángel Faura are executive producers; Libertad Ribera and Jaume Martí also produce. Bernat Bosch is director of photography, and Fernando Velázquez composed the music. The film begins with a confession whose timing may matter as much as the killings themselves.
