Netflix’s new comedy-documentary showcase brings three October dates: Norm: The Tale of Norm Macdonald on October 16, Paralyzed by Hope: The Maria Bamford Story on October 23, and SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of on October 30.
At the streamer’s preview event, directors discussed the films with moderator Patton Oswalt. Judd Apatow directs the Macdonald portrait, co-directs Bamford’s film with Neil Berkeley, and Jason Hehir directs SCTV.
The official film pages show three different approaches: Macdonald’s career and contradictions, Bamford’s relationship between comedy and mental health, and a reunion of the Canadian sketch show’s performers. These are documentaries about comedy, rather than three new stand-up specials.
