Mayfair Witches heads to Salem for its December 30 US return

The third season is titled Salem Coven, bringing a new setting and new characters to Anne Rice's television adaptation.

Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches has set its US return for December 30, 2026. The third season carries the subtitle Salem Coven, and AMC presented a teaser during New York Comic Con. The announcement gives the next run a specific setting as well as a premiere date, shifting the series' attention toward Salem.

Alexandra Daddario returns as Rowan, the doctor whose discovery of her place within a powerful family of witches forms the show's starting point. The adaptation draws on Rice's Lives of the Mayfair Witches books. Its original setup followed a woman confronting an inherited identity and a dangerous supernatural legacy, rather than someone who entered the story already understanding that world.

Harry Hamlin and Tongayi Chirisa are also part of the returning ensemble. In the earlier series introduction, Hamlin's Cortland was presented as a family patriarch, while Chirisa's Ciprien belonged to a secretive organisation concerned with the supernatural. Those relationships established different routes into Rowan's family story. The new season expands that framework with characters played by Eliza Scanlen and Betsy Brandt.

In TV Insider's coverage of the NYCC panel, showrunner Esta Spalding discussed the move to Salem and the new character dynamics. Scanlen plays Jessica and Brandt plays Katherine. The change gives the third season a different geographical focus while continuing the existing television adaptation. The announced December date concerns the US AMC+ release plan; it is not a new premiere date for the entire series.
