ITV Takes 70 Up and The Chase Around the World to MIPCOM

The sales slate includes the documentary project's final chapter and ten new formats. Asif Kapadia completes 70 Up after Michael Apted.

ITV Studios' MIPCOM programme includes 70 Up, the final chapter of the 7 Up documentary project. It has followed its original 14 participants across seven decades. Asif Kapadia is completing the documentary after the death of longtime director Michael Apted. MultiStory Media is producing two 90-minute episodes for ITV. A separate slate of ten formats is led by The Chase Around the World.

The Chase Around the World takes the established quiz format out of the studio. Six pairs of contestants must locate six Chasers at undisclosed locations across Europe, solving puzzles along the way. The winning pair then faces the Chasers for a prize. Bright Entertainment is producing six hour-long episodes for ITV. The competition adds travel and a physical search to the quiz brand's usual confrontation between contestants and professional opponents.

The ten-title formats slate also includes Apocalypse, a survival competition from The Garden and ITV Studios Australia. Sixteen ordinary participants spend 28 days in an abandoned town without water, heating or electricity. Expedition Into the Wild, made by ITV Studios Sweden for Kanal 5, sends eight celebrity city dwellers with limited survival skills into a remote environment for 18 days. A second season has already been commissioned.

The returning British Name That Tune is scheduled for 2027, after 29 years away, with nine hour-long episodes from Bright Entertainment for ITV. The slate therefore includes both new competition formats and a revival of an established music quiz.

ITV had already scheduled The Chase Around the World for a July 16 launch in its original press pack. The October announcement concerns its place in the MIPCOM sales slate; the programme itself had been announced earlier.
