Netflix has unveiled the first look at Empress of Flames and announced a worldwide premiere on December 3. Sivaroj Kongsakul directs the Thai series, with Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul and Narilya Gulmongkolpech among its leads. The story follows a struggle for a throne in the fictional Thipaya Kingdom.
Kongsakul and Kantana Motion Pictures previously made Master of the House for Netflix. That series centered on a wealthy family fighting over an inheritance after a diamond tycoon's death. Power and family conflict remain central to their new collaboration, now transplanted into a royal setting.
The production is building a fantasy realm rather than reproducing a single country's historical dress. Its designers developed distinct cities and costumes drawing on Asian and Southeast Asian influences. Netflix's first-look announcement also highlights a throne room built specifically for the series.
Master of the House became the first Thai series to lead Netflix's global non-English television chart in 2024. Empress of Flames brings that creative partnership back with a larger fictional canvas and a new ensemble. Its initial reveal concentrates on the characters and the world around their contest for power.
