Ron Livingston, Beverly D’Angelo and Omar Benson Miller have joined Tyrese Gibson in Don’t Open the Door, a horror film written and directed by Deon Taylor. Deadline reported the casting on October 16. Principal photography was scheduled to begin that week in Mississippi. The roles of the new cast members have not been disclosed, and no release date has been announced.
The production is also bringing in Shannon McIntosh and NFL player Cam Heyward as producers alongside Taylor and Roxanne Avent Taylor’s Hidden Empire Film Group. McIntosh is producing through McIntosh Films, while Heyward is using his new Iron 97 Productions banner. Maxime Alexandre, whose credits include The Nun, is attached as cinematographer.
Taylor’s films include Fatale, Black & Blue and The Intruder. Deadline says the new film will address real-world trauma, but the filmmakers have not released a synopsis explaining the setting, the characters or the threat behind the title.
The filmmakers also told Deadline that they intend to extend the story into a graphic-novel-inspired universe beyond the film. The expanded cast and production team give the project a clearer shape even though Taylor has not disclosed the characters or the central threat.
