An earlier case for Sara Santano
Celeste is going back to an earlier point in tax inspector Sara Santano’s career. According to Variety’s interview with writer Diego San José and director Elena Trapé, the six-part second season revisits her case involving Figueroa, an Argentine soccer star. Carmen Machi returns as Sara.
Variety describes the Figueroa case as the only professional failure in Sara’s otherwise distinguished career. The first season instead followed her attempt to establish whether a globe-trotting Latin music star owed €20 million in Spanish taxes. The new season shifts attention to the earlier case rather than continuing that investigation.
Premiere and production plans
Variety reports that Imagina Sales will bring the season to Mipcom ahead of a planned October 26 world premiere at Barcelona’s Serielizados Fest. The report does not verify a year for that premiere date.
Trapé returns to direct, while San José writes with Oriol Puig and Fernando Delgado-Hierro. Variety identifies Movistar Plus and 100 Balas, a Mediapro Studio company, as the producers.
