Xochitl Gomez, Madeleine McGraw and Jack Champion have joined Bad Influence, a young-adult horror film directed by Jason Perlman. Deadline reports that McGraw plays Isabelle and Gomez plays Kira. Brandon Cohen wrote the screenplay.
The two friends are driving home for spring break when they pick up a mysterious hitchhiker named Liam. The stranger is not what he appears to be. The project is being pitched around the women's friendship and anger as well as the danger of their new passenger, with Thelma & Louise used as a reference point.
Debbie Liebling, Joel David Moore and Zachary Burgess are producing. Liebling and Moore previously worked together on Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Grandma's Boy. Capture is handling sales.
The cast brings experience from several corners of genre filmmaking. Gomez played America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. McGraw returns as Gwen Blake in The Black Phone 2, while Champion plays Spider in the Avatar films and appeared in Scream VI. A release date has not been announced.
