Apocalypse Z: New World Has a Bigger Survival Problem

The preview moves the sequel to a Canary Islands refuge, then sends a supply mission toward the mainland. Its wider story could depend as much on conflicting survivor agendas as on the infected.

A refuge is a starting point, not an ending

A refuge sounds like the answer to a zombie outbreak. In our preview, Apocalypse Z: New World makes it the starting point instead: the sequel to Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End moves to the Canary Islands, presented as one of Europe’s last refuges after the outbreak. A supply mission then heads toward the mainland.

That mission gives the wider setting a purpose. The story does not have to abandon its refuge to expand; it can follow survivors whose immediate objective takes them beyond it. That is a more useful sequel hook than simply adding another location to the map.

The other survival problem

The preview also describes infected threats and competing agendas among the survivors. That combination leaves a sharper question open: when the mission gets difficult, will the group still agree on what it is trying to achieve? The infected may supply the danger, but the agendas could decide whether this wider survival story has any real tension between its survivors.
